A House for my Family

SYNOPSIS

It's a lovely world where looming steam pipes spew thick smoke, scrapyards screech and the few left behind wander over sludge puddles every morning. Corporations are considered a place of worship. Idiosyncrasy is considered taboo. A real waste of time. Everyone is graying . Quite literally. Everyone is avoiding the inevitable. Everyone except Pence, a neurotic shut-in who could never quite fit within the mold of the decaying city around him. He frequently hides out in his apartment to escape from the nagging feeling that things can never go back to how they were. Inside, he spends his time delicately crafting a block of wood into a sculpture that even he struggles to understand. The figurine reminds him of the sunken faces he's come across. If he can't fix humanity, perhaps the sculpture is his only hope. Over the course of several bizarre vignettes, we start to unpack what's really behind his chisel and paintbrush.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Sean Breitkreutz, a graduate of UNCSA in Winston-Salem, NC, has spent the better part of his life with a camera in hand. Beginning with a VHS camcorder at a young age, he has continuously explored his passion for filmmaking, with a particular interest in guerilla filmmaking.

For Sean, filmmaking is a way to dive headfirst into the strange corners of the mind, confronting the cluttered anxieties and existential fears that reside there, all while seeking the light within. He often blends humor with horror, pushing boundaries to explore new ways of delving into the human condition.

Most recently, with his team at Nightwire Films, an independent production house based in the Carolinas, Sean has been working on MUSH TV (@mush__tv on Instagram and TikTok), a series of absurdist and surreal horror/comedy vignettes. Produced by Nightwire Films and designed for social media, MUSH has gained a significant following and shows no signs of slowing down.
